Julian Lennon and The White Feather Foundation have teamed up with Future Youth Records on our youth-led Think Earth music campaign to raise critical funds for environmental justice on EARTH DAY April 22, 2023

Future Youth Records' Think Earth campaign EP, which will be released on Earth Day, April 22, 2023, will feature several of FYR's international artist partners covering Lennon's 1991 poignant and prescient European hit "Saltwater." The EP will also include a remix by German youth artist Joshua Heitzler (Hadron Sounds) of "Save Me" from Lennon's latest release Jude. Other FYR artist partners will write the remainder of songs on the EP.

The White Feather Foundation and Future Youth Records will share in the proceeds equally, with The White Feather Foundation's share going directly to the emergency fund for the Save the Mirning Sea Country Campaign to help preserve critical biodiversity and protect a sacred Aboriginal culture. Lennon founded The White Feather Foundation in 2007 to address environmental and humanitarian issues.

Future Youth Records' proceeds will continue to support Gen Z artists to inspire environmental change and social justice through music.

“We must all work together in a cross-generational partnership if we are to solve our most critical problems like the climate crisis. This project represents the power of what can be done if done together. We ask others to join us in support and solidarity as a partner by doing whatever they can to ensure this important work can continue”

ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE

Urgent funds are Needed to Preserve Sacred Aboriginal Land via the white feather foundation

For over 65,000 years the coastal Mirning People have acted as caretakers for the sacred land along the sea that forms a rainbow arch from near Point Culver in Western Australia to near Streaky Bay in South Australia, and submerged country now beneath the waves. Their home includes the Nullarbor Plain, ancient Mallee woodlands and the seas of the Great Australian Bight.

Today, this area is in danger of being forever lost if The Mirning People do not prevail in a legal court case to obtain the official Native Title for their eastern sea. That designation would provide the recognition by Australian law that Indigenous Australians have rights and interests to their sea that derive from their traditional laws and customs, and enable them to protect it for generations to come.

Legal Support

Your donation helps cover the costs of solicitors, junior counsel and senior counsel to represent the Mirning during the trial.

Expert Assistance

Your donation pays for professional archeologists and anthropologists who have extensive knowledge about the land and sea, and will be called upon to provide testimony during the court proceedings.

Administrative Necessities

Your donation funds archive retrievals, photocopying of records, transcripts and other associated basic administrative expenses.

"Nature thrives in the sea country we are trying to protect—over 85% of the species in this region cannot be found elsewhere on the planet. Perhaps the most frightening possibility is the potential loss of endangered Blue, Humpback and Southern Right whales, which could have significant impacts on climate change. We must work together for our common good and help our Indigenous friends maintain their rights to be stewards of this land and sea."

-Tassoula Kokkoris, Director, The White Feather Foundation

“It’s universal. Every single culture, race, and denomination of the world uses music to communicate...You can have two entirely different people from different ends of the world and they can communicate through music...Then you have a mutual understanding, a mutual meeting of minds. It’s like you, you’ve been through that too. You get it. You know how I’m feeling, you know how I felt, and we’re so different.”

— Lebogang Mbuyisa, Future Youth Musician (24)
