Frequently Asked Questions

  •  How many songs can I submit?

    • You can submit up to three (3) songs, but you’ll need to fill out an individual form for each song.

  • Do I need to be a US resident to submit a song?

    • No. We accept submissions from everywhere in the world.

  • Do my lyrics need to be in English?

    • No, but we require lyrics in their original language and English translation text so that we can evaluate songs. Please include your lyrics in the description of your song in your streaming link.

  • Does my song need to include lyrics?

    • Yes, but they do not have to be sung/recorded along with your music. If you would prefer not to sing them, you may simply include your written lyrics with your submission.

  • Can I submit a song that has already been released?

    • No. We only accept songs that have never been released publicly on any major song streaming or download platform or as physical units.

  • In which format should I submit my song?

    • Please submit your songs via a private streaming link on Soundcloud.

  • How do I upload my song to Soundcloud?

  • If my song is selected for production, how much time after Future Youth Records (FYR) releases my song do I need to wait before I personally release the song?

    •  Please wait until FYR sends your master recording files to you.  Within 14 days of the album release, FYR will send the artist their song's master recording along with any revised files.

  • If FYR selects my song, what will I be required to submit?

    • A signed Certificate of Authorship

    • A signed Media Waiver

    • An Artist Code of Conduct Agreement

  • If my song is selected for production, can I bring in my own team to help produce the song?

    • Once FYR begins production on your song, we only allow our production team to work with you.

  • If FYR selects my song, what are my rights to the song that I submitted?

    • The selected artist and any other writers on the selected composition retain 100% of publishing rights. Artists also retain 100% rights to the master recording. If FYR adds production to your master recording, you keep 100% of the copyright ownership. Selected artists will be required to allow FYR to use the song for their purposes.

  • What does FYR have permission to do with the song(s) I submitted?

    • By submitting a demo, the artist grants to FYR a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-revocable, perpetual, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free license to (i) use, copy and store for backup and archival purposes, transmit, broadcast, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, reformat, transcode, and otherwise create derivative works of, publicly perform, record, remix, and re-record the artist’s submission in any manner, in whole or in part, to incorporate the artist's submission into other works, and to exploit the submission as a song on an upcoming FYR release, in any format or medium now known or later developed (collectively, the “Uses”) and (ii) use the artist’s name, likeness, voice, city, and state of residence, and other personal information supplied by the artist to identify the submission in the Uses and for future publicity and advertising purposes without compensation. Upon FYR’s request, the artist will provide to FYR written consent to such use.

  • Will FYR notify me if I haven’t been selected?

    • Because we receive a high volume of submissions, we cannot notify every person who sends us their song about our decision or provide feedback. We will only contact you if your song is selected for production.

  • Do you accept a cappella or instrumental submissions?

    • We do accept a capella submissions and you may submit your song without a vocal performance as long as you submit your lyrics.

  • Will I be paid if my song is chosen for release?

    • No, you will receive professional production support, marketing, and promotion for your song at no cost. The submitting artist and any other writers on the selected composition retain 100% of publishing rights. Artists also retain 100% rights to the master recording. If any changes are made to your master recording as part of the production process, you keep 100% of the copyright ownership. Selected artists will be required to allow FYR to use the song for their purposes.
