FYR360° Community Songwriting
CONTEST Frequently Asked Questions
How many songs can I submit?
You can submit up to three (3) songs, but you’ll need to fill out an individual form for each song.
Do I need to be a FYR360° subscriber to enter?
Yes. This contest is exclusively open to active FYR360° subscribers as of June 11, 2026. You must submit your entry using the email address tied to your FYR360° subscription. Entries submitted with a non-subscriber email address will not be considered.
How will you verify my subscriber status?
We verify subscriber status against our FYR360° subscriber list as of June 11, 2026. To ensure your entry is not excluded, submit using the email address associated with your FYR360° subscription.
What is the age requirement?
Entrants must be between 15 and 25 years of age at the time of submission.
I am under 18. Can I still enter?
Yes, but you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to enter. By submitting your entry, you confirm that your parent or legal guardian has consented to your participation.
Do I need to be a US resident to enter?
No. This contest is open to all FYR360° subscribers regardless of location.
What themes can my song address?
Your song must reflect socially conscious themes. Examples include environmental justice, peace, women's empowerment, LGBTQ+ equality, mental health, and more.
Do my lyrics need to be in English?
No, but we require lyrics in their original language and an English translation in the description of your streaming link so that we can evaluate your song.
Does my song need to include lyrics?
Yes, but they do not have to be sung or recorded along with your music. If you prefer not to sing them, you may simply include your written lyrics in the description of your submission link.
Can I submit a song that has already been released?
No, we only accept songs that have never been released publicly on any major song streaming or download platform or as physical units.
In which format should I submit my song?
Please submit your song via an unlisted SoundCloud or YouTube link. Make sure your full lyrics are included in the description, with an English translation if not in English.
How do I upload my song to Soundcloud?
Please click these links to review instructions on how to upload your song to Soundcloud, make it private and share a streaming link.
Can I use AI tools in my submission?
AI tools may be used only as minor aids in the creative process -- for example, to brainstorm ideas or help with arrangement -- but you must be the primary creative author of the melody and lyrics. AI-generated elements are permitted only if they are substantially reworked and integrated into your own original work.
The following are not permitted: songs created entirely by AI, or submissions where your only creative input was a prompt or instruction to an AI tool.
If you used AI tools in any part of your songwriting process, you must disclose this on the entry form and briefly describe how. Failure to disclose may result in disqualification.
If my song is selected as the winning entry, how much time after FYR releases my song do I need to wait before I personally release the song?
FYR requires a 45-day exclusivity period before you can release the song again.
If I am chosen as the winner, what will I be required to submit?
A signed Certificate of Authorship.
All song files necessary for production.
Can I bring in my own team to help produce the song?
Once FYR begins production on your song, we only allow our production team to work with you.
How will production work?
Production will be conducted remotely via Zoom. If recording or studio time is needed, FYR will work with you to find a studio near your location.
If FYR selects my song as the winning entry, what are my rights to the song that I submitted?
The selected artist and any other writers on the selected composition retain 100% of publishing rights. The artist also retains 100% rights to the master recording. If FYR adds production to your master recording, you keep 100% of the copyright ownership. Selected artist will be required to allow FYR to use the song for their purposes.
What does FYR have permission to do with the song(s) I submitted?
By submitting a contest entry, the artist grants to FYR a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-revocable, perpetual, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free license to (i) use, copy and store for backup and archival purposes, transmit, broadcast, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, reformat, transcode, and otherwise create derivative works of, publicly perform, record, remix, and re-record the artist’s submission in any manner, in whole or in part, to incorporate the artist's submission into other works, and to exploit the submission as a song on an upcoming FYR release, in any format or medium now known or later developed (collectively, the “Uses”) and (ii) use the artist’s name, likeness, voice, city, and state of residence, and other personal information supplied by the artist to identify the submission in the Uses and for future publicity and advertising purposes without compensation. Upon FYR’s request, the artist will provide FYR written consent to such use.
What does the winner receive?
Full remote production support from Future Youth Records
Free promotional support
Free song distribution
Will I be paid if my song is chosen for release?
No. You will receive professional production support, promotional support, and distribution for your song at no cost.
Will FYR notify me if I haven’t been selected?
Because we receive a high volume of submissions, we cannot notify every person who sends us their song about our decision or provide feedback. We will only contact you if you are selected as the winner, which will happen on or around August 21, 2026.
Do you accept a cappella or instrumental submissions?
We do accept a capella submissions and you may submit your song without a vocal performance as long as you submit your lyrics.
